The concept behind this winning proposal was the principle that ‘Arts’ and ‘Business’ are polar opposites, which both attract and repel simultaneously. The creative idea translates incredibly well to the use of magnets and metal filings, which are the core elements of the award.

To create the award vessels, we worked with Louis Thompson, an RCA graduate and leading figure in cutting edge design solutions in hot glass.

Contained within the glass awards are iron filings, a waste material salvaged from London Mechanical Lift Engineers – Pye London. These filings are attracted to a removable central magnet to create endless internal sculptures, an interactive process that constantly re-interprets the magnetic attraction between arts and business and how ongoing interaction allows exciting new developments to evolve.

The collaboration resulted in beautiful bespoke glass vessels, each with a unique colour spectrum.
